Many public policy decisions are made almost entirely based on the predictions of purportedly independent number crunchers. While the scoring estimates of the Congressional Budget Office and other agencies are rarely questioned, they have proven woefully inaccurate, with programs ballooning far beyond their estimates. It's time to stop pretending and demand honesty about the true costs of government.
